Ask the P&L is a contextual assistant that opens as a side panel from supported pages. It is designed to help users explore what is happening in the current view without manually rebuilding the context in a separate tool.

Where It Appears

Ask the P&L is currently surfaced from selected planning and analysis pages, including:

Dashboard
Production
SKU-level production views
Retros

Availability depends on tenant permissions and whether the environment has been configured for the feature.

What It Can Help With

Typical uses include:

understanding which drivers are moving a KPI
asking which customers or SKUs are behind a variance
exploring likely follow-up questions from the current page context
getting a fast narrative explanation before doing a deeper manual review

How It Works

When opened, the panel shows:

the current context scope as badges
starter prompts to help users ask useful questions quickly
a live chat transcript for the current thread
follow-up suggestions after each answer

The assistant works best when questions stay close to the page you opened it from.

Setup and Availability

If the environment is not configured, the panel remains visible only where allowed and indicates that setup is still required. In configured environments, users can start a new conversation, ask follow-up questions, and reset the thread when they want to begin again.

Good Question Patterns

Strong questions are usually:

specific to the current page
tied to a metric, customer, SKU, or time period
phrased as an explanation or comparison request

Examples:
